experience and a strong commitment to social service.
Lynne Cole - Treasurer
Lynne has extensive administrative and financial experience in
the not-for-profit arena. She has served in a variety of leadership positions with the St. Louis Council of NA'AMAT
USA, including multiple terms as Treasurer at the Chapter and Council levels. She is currently serving a second term
as President of that organization's St. Louis Council. Lynne holds a BA and a Master's Degree from Brooklyn College.
Dorothy
Platter - Secretary
Dorothy has experience in
management, purchasing, warehousing and distribution as the owner of The Canon House, Inc., a local St. Louis business.
Dorothy has a strong commitment to social services, Project Backpack in particular.
Marlene Dale - Director of Communications
Marlene is a former advertising executive who planned communications strategies for nationally-known brands including
Cheerios, Parker Brothers games, and L'eggs Pantyhose. After a career change, she now teaches social studies at Bais
Yaakov High School of St. Louis. Marlene holds a BA and an MS in Journalism from Northwestern University and an MAT
from Washington University.
Dr. John T. Glore - Director
John
brings a long record of administrative expertise and dedication to local youth to the Board of Project Backpack. He
is a former Executive Director of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Since 1973 he has served
as Principal at four St. Louis and St. Charles-area high schools. He has been honored with an Outstanding Service Award
by the North Central Association of Schools & Colleges. John received his ED.D in Secondary School Administration
from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
James Lee - Director
James is the Coordinator for International Scholars and Patients at Washington University. He holds a BA in
English, Spanish and Education from Central University of Iowa. He has taught at San Estanislao de Koska School in Malaga,
Spain, specialized in English courses for Tourism and Banking and was a certified legal interpreter.
Ken Lowe - Director
Ken has management and financial experience as the owner of St. Louis Trophy and
Engraving. After working for the original owner for several years, he took over the business in 1993, accomplishing
an impressive modernization of an established business. Ken holds an Associates Degree in Applied Science with a major
course of study in Retailing from Meramec Community College.
Dr. Lynn Lowrance - Director
Lynn has devoted her professional career to youth development.
She is an school guidance counselor at Meramec Elementary and Co-Coordinator of counseling for the Clayton School District.
In addition to Project Backpack, Lynn serves on the Board of Friends of Characterplus, which works to increase community
awareness of the character education services provided by Cooperating School Districts of metro St. Louis. Lynn holds
a Doctorate in Counseling/Educational Foundations from St. Louis University, where she also received her BA and ME degrees.
Fran Wilner - Director
Fran is a retired educator who taught in the Francis Howell
School District in St. Charles County. She holds a BA from Western Michigan University and an MA in Education from Webster
University. Fran is also active in promoting St. Louis tourism as a member of the Board of the St. Louis Concierge Asssociation.
She is currently employed as a concierge at the St. Louis Hilton Airport Hotel.
